At Laney College on October 18, 2017, Mental Health in the Hood Presents: "Keep Holding On, A Night of Suicide Awareness". The keynote speaker is Kevin “Grateful” Berthia, a young man from East Oakland, who on March 11, 2005 nearly committed suicide by jumping off of the Golden Gate Bridge. He is now a mental health advocate, mentor, and motivational speaker who spreads his gospel “The Impact of Listening” around the world. Laney College Student Malaysia Alcorn will also share her powerful testimonial about surviving depression.
