Rafael Grossi on Two Sides of the Nuclear Energy

The mandate of the International Atomic Energy Agency has two sides, Rafael Grossi, a candidate for the post of its Director General, says. At the one hand, this institution deals with some of today’s most pressing political issues like the nuclear programs of Iran and the DPRK. At the other hand, it promotes the peaceful use of nuclear energy. However, according to him, the IAEA is not a political power itself: it simply provides a helpful verification tool to control atomic energy all over the world.
