WeatherReady Siding | Coastal Permitting | SBI Sawdust EP07
On Episode 7 of SAWDUST, we review building and permitting approaches that are essential when building a coastal home. Back at our waterfront project, things have evolved quite a bit since we came out of the ground on helical piers, and the team is focused on getting the exterior skin weather-ready. Lead Carpenter Nate Stockard gives us a “how to” on installing the large impact-rated porch slider -- from packout, flashing and sealant techniques to final shimming to get it level and plumb. Then, Project Manager Aaron Sesin discusses the high-performance siding materials that we use in the velocity zone. To finish, we’ll get the expert’s guide to #coastalpermitting from in-house Project Engineer Eric Baxter. We’ll visit waterfront properties currently in the permitting process, and as we do, Eric will point out complexities with coastal permitting, explain the numerous agencies involved, and share his creative strategies to please homeowners and environmental regulations alike.
