Yamaha "Performance Series" SET1 for DX7iiFD/D
Back in the 80's these two awesome banks called SET1 and SET2 were circulating around Sam Ash and studios. Not too long ago I discovered them again in the "dexed cart" download. However, until last week I never knew where they came from, only that they were a giant step up from the factory patches and had the kind of sounds I could use with my band. Recently I found a DX user just outside the city who kindly agreed to sell me the disk. It's clear that these are proto-SSU patches that made their way into the early disks like Top 40 and Soundtrack. As a kid I thought the "MF" designation was mezzo-forte, but in hindsight it is clearly Manny Fernandez. I'd love to hear from any other Yamaha programmers who may have contributed to this bank! SET2 coming next week.
