Crazy new Intel Core 2 Duo E8600 - Overclocked to 5.2GHz 1.52v on Water Cooling
Testing some new pieces of Core 2 Duo E8600 CPUs from the Wolfdale CPU lineup. This is currently one of the best ones that I have found at least on water cooling, 5.2GHz stable in Superpi 32M with 1.5-1.52v on normal water cooling. With only single core enabled, I was able to go even a bit lower on the voltage, so a bit under 1.5v. Sam.OCX's/TaPaKaH's best result is same frequency with 1.44v or so, but at this point temperature scaling is the determining factor, not so much if the voltage requirement is 1.45 or 1.49. If the CPU has horrible cold bug and doesn't scale from temperatures, it will not be a good one for extreme overclocking purposes. Generally many of these Wolfdale CPUs stop far before 5ghz, so even a 5ghz result on air or water cooling is already very good.
