Cinderella's stepsisters, step-mother, and father have just left to attend the ball at the palace. Cinderella is left to clean up and do her duties. In this aria, she reminisces on their happiness and fights with her own dreams of going to the ball. At the end, she falls asleep with the help of the Sandman... or mayhap, magic.
