Annie Oakley - 3/1/2020 Trial 2, AKC Detective 2nd PL
Location: Springfield MO. Judge: Virginia Huxley I thought it might be good to share one of the GoPro videos from one of the 3 detective Q's Annie got this past weekend, under two different judges. This might help others to see how I work with the dog I have. Annie is a Border Collie, adopted as a 2yr. old. She is very barky and wastes a lot of time just jumping around, being happy (can't inhale odor, when barking). Her barks change. She starts by telling me this is so much fun! Then when in odor, she is telling me it is somewhere here. Then she will slow down the barking and even stop sometimes, as she decides if this is what will pay out the treat. She is having a blast and even stops to smell a few other things; that she knows are not odor. When she looks to the distance through the fence, she sees another search area in the distance, this is due to the wind blowing the tarp up in the air, because the wind was around 15 mph or more. When she does inside searches, she is all business and does not waste as much time. She was just having so much fun, I knew time would not matter, as she is fast (I think it was 7 hides). I am sure I could have shortened the search time a lot, but who cares, it is more important she enjoys it! Note: the distractor in the blue bucket at the end was bully sticks under a towel, she loves bully sticks. Oh, and her alert play bow at the hides, she developed on her own.
