Laboratory of Clonal Micropropagation and Experimental Hydroponics
The Department of Forestry and Soil Science is one of Northern Arctic Federal University’s oldest departments. Originally established in 1934 as Forestry Faculty at Arkhangelsk Forestry Engineering Institute, it comprised departments of Forestry, Soil Science, Forest Survey, and Botany. The year 1934 saw the establishment of an arboretum and those first experiments that led to species introduction efforts. The Arboretum continues to operate as a research facility. Now with the Laboratory of Clonal Micropropagation and Experimental Hydroponics, its premises may soon become home to improved varieties of northern crops.
