Imamzadeh Mausoleum (Goy Imam Mosque), Ganja Azerbaijan
The Imamzadeh Complex was formed around the tomb erected on the grave of Ibrahim, the son of Imam Mohammad Baghir, who died in the 8th century. The date of construction of the first building on the site of the Ganja Imamzadeh tomb dates back to the 8th century of our era. The children of the fifth Shia imam Muhammad Baghir, who is considered one of the holy personalities of Shia Islam, turned to Iran and the cities of Azerbaijan to escape from the actions of the leaders of the Umayyad caliphate (661-750), who persecuted the representatives of the Prophet's generation during the mentioned period. Two of these brothers, Shahzadeh Ibrahim and Shahzadeh Ismail, went to Barda and Ganja, but after a while, their enemies found them and killed them. Just as an Imamzadeh was built in Barda after the death of Shahzadeh Ismail, a tomb was built on the grave of Shahzadeh Ibrahim after his martyrdom. An inscription found on the inner wall of the Imamzade tomb in Ganja reflects an important historical fact related to this issue. The article, which was researched by prominent researchers - archaeologist Ishaq Jafarzadeh and professor Mashadikhanim Nemet, the author of important studies in the field of epigraphy, was read as follows: "That, Allah is eternal. This is the holy place (placed) of Imam Muhammad Baghir - peace be upon him - his son Maulana Ibrahim (placed) in the garden of honor (heaven). He died 120 years after the migration of his grandfather - may Allah bless him" This epitaph consists of a small marble tablet embedded in the inner wall of the monument on the first floor of the Imamzadeh tomb. The inscriptions on the inscription are in Arabic. The exact chronological indicator reflected here is the 120th year of the Hijri date. The date mentioned in the Christian calendar coincides with the years 739-740. It is from this point of view that the date of the original construction of Ganja Imamzadeh tomb is related to the period of Shahzadeh Ibrahim's death, and the monument is rightfully considered one of the most valuable architectural examples of the early medieval period. The appearance of Ganja Imamzadeh tomb in the mentioned period was not as spectacular as its modern appearance. Only after a certain period of time, as a result of the restoration of Ganja Imamzadeh, improvement and reconstruction measures around it, the monument began to turn into a large complex. #azerbaijan #azerbaycan #filmmaking #gəncə #islam #islamic #muslim #umrah #imamhussain #imamali #imamzadeh #imam #mosque #photography #video #videos #videography #caucasian #middleeast #iran #centralasia
