What is a sus chord? Better yet, what is suspension in music and why is it important? Music is filled with tension and resolution. It's what instills emotion in the listener and allows them to connect with the song and band/artist. Suspension can happen within a chord itself, but can also occur from the melody of the voice or any instrument in a song due to the interaction with other notes embedded in the song.
