Hanneke de Jong & Jonas de Witte - Project Solaris

PROJECT SOLARIS is a site specific performance by Hanneke de Jong & Jonas de Witte Project Solaris is a visual and musical performance based on the novel Solaris (1961) by Stanislav Lem. Using an iPod with film and sound, protagonist Chris Kelvin engages you in her field research. Using skillfully executed experiments, she tries to step into the dimensions that hide from our senses, possibly reaching the one in which her greatest love is still alive! Impossible at first thought, but from the perspective of quantum physics, at least theoretically, entirely possible. We enter a world of whimsical physics, in which illusion and reality fight for their right to exist and direction is decreed by chance. In Project Solaris, visual arts, cinema, music and theatre are wonderfully interlaced. A magical visual spectacle unfolds between reality and illusion. De Jong & De Witte increasingly question reality and play with the perception of the audience, until nothing is what it seems. ‘When you think you get it, you haven’t understood a thing’
