Francisco Joubert Bernard, bassoon Maria Semes, violin Cynthia Burton, violin Evan Vicic, viola Nicholas Finch, cello musicians of the Louisville Orchestra Jazz superstar Wynton Marsalis wrote this piece for his friend bassoonist Milan Turkovic. Marsalis regularly greeted his friend with a robust "Meeeeeelaaaaan"... hence the cheerful title of the work. A blues-tinged conversation between the bassoon and violin, the music shows a bit of Gospel before concluding with driving energy.
