RUTH WILLSON MEMORIAL

This is the memorial for Ruth Willson on January 26, 2018. Beneath the obituary is the link to the website Ruth Erma Willson (nee Borg), 93, resident of Avon Lake, OH, formerly of Valley City, ND., passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at home surrounded by her family. She was born August 21, 1924 to parents John P. and Annie Borg. Ruth graduated from Valley City Teachers College and coached girl's basketball. Marshall and Ruth started Center Sales Corp in 1962 and she worked there for over 30 years before retiring. Ruth was a member of the Ladies Oriental Shrine Club, Order of the Eastern Star and the Royal Order of the Jestorettes. She also participated in Clown School to entertain children with life altering health issues during Shrine events. Ruth volunteered over 20 years for the Shriners hosting pig roasts and fund raising. Ruth, along with Marshall Were the co-founders of the Avon Lake Band Aids, established in the early 60's; it continues to this day supporting the Avon Lake marching band. One of the many highlights was meeting and becoming friends with Pete Fountain. They enjoyed their summer home in the Upper Peninsula of MI, where they spent their summers for many years. She adored her family and enjoyed traveling, wood working, leather working, gardening, golfing, playing cards, music, dancing and stained glass. Ruth and her husband Marshall proudly attend the United Church of Christ in Avon Lake. Ruth is survived by her husband Marshall K of 72 years; children Patricia Lawrence (Ron), Plano, TX, Steven Willson (Gregrie), Avon Lake, OH, John Willson (Jane), Warrenton, MO, Diane Curry (Robert), Avon Lake, OH, Laurie Land (George), 29 Palms, CA; grandmother of 13 and great grandmother of 13. Ruth is preceded in death by her son in-law Frederick Adams, parents John P. and Annie Borg; great-grandson Jacob Culp and her siblings Oliver Borg, Melvin Borg, Selmer Borg, Lester Borg, Alma Hager, Clarice Schmidt, Eleanor Lewis, Alice Yeager, Sadie Sargent, Clarence Borg, Lynn Borg and Margaret Stopleworth.
