Goal Setting Course - PART 1
Goal setting is a tremendously important aspect of your life. If you are living a life of Monk/Yogi goal setting is not important for you. But if you are in an environment where you are given goals, then goal setting is important for you. It has also been proven that all those people who set and followed up goal setting, it has really increased their chances of achieving their goals in life. So it will be a great idea to go through a formal course on goal setting: The first question I have for you is: How many of you feel that you are an expert in Goal setting and Implementation? I am sure majority of you will NO! but the answer is YES! You are absolutely good at goal setting and have been using it for a very very long time. The only difference is that we are not sure if we are using it in all aspects of our life. Personal or professional. Let me give you an example: The first principle of goal setting is, always begun with an End in your mind. Which means, where you want to reach, what you want to achieve has to be very very clear in your mind. It does not mean that it cannot change. It can. Because remember when you set the goal, you are setting it on the basis of your current awareness, your current knowledge and your current understanding about life. When these things change or get better, your goals invariably will have to change. But when you to do the goal setting process, the goals have to be crystal clear, so began with an end in your mind. And you have already been doing that! Now how many of you have been on a vacation or holiday in your life? Now I know it a stupid question I am asking because all of you have been for a short holiday or a long vacation. Now, what's the first thing that you decide when you want to go for a vacation or holiday, the destination, isn't it right? You are very very clear on where you want to go. And then you do backward planning. You never reach the railway station or airport, and say 'dekhte hai kya kya laga hai' and then decide let's take this flight. I'm sure most of us are not that adventurous! And that's also not bad. If you want to live an adventurous life, where goals are not given to you, then you can just be an explorer in your life. Otherwise, you have been using the principle of goal setting. You are very clear on where you want to go. And then you analyze your strengths and weakness. What is the budget? How many days? Can you get those kinds of leave approval? Which means you are very clear of your destination and then you do a backward planning to see whether it really fits in or not and if it doesn't you explore to find out the next best alternative option; which is also goal setting. Why even a vacation or a holiday! I am sure all of you have been for a movie. When you want to go for a movie, what is the first thing that you decide? Which Movie? So you focus on the destination first and then do backward planning. Where are the shows? Which all theater? What are the timings? You even go ahead and do an online booking. .....
