FW4001 - Install R, Rstudio, and Swirl
Windows instructions: Step 1) Open a web browser and go to this URL: https://cran.r-project.org/bin/windows/base/ Step 2) Click "Download R 3.3.1 for Windows" and wait for it to finish. When it's done, open it up to install R - you can just click next over and over, you don't want to change any of the defaults. Step 3) In your web browser, go to this URL: https://www.rstudio.com/products/rstudio/download3/ Step 4) Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click this download: "RStudio 0.99.903 - Windows Vista/7/8/10". Wait for it to finish, and open it up to install RStudio. Again, you can just keep clicking Next to accept the default settings. Step 5) Open up Rstudio. Go to the top of the screen and click the 'Tools' tab. Click on 'Install Packages...". Step 6) In the Packages field, type in the following: swirl mosaic Lock5Data and press Install. Step 7) Wait for it to finish installing everything, and you're ready to start the next video! Mac OS X instructions: Step 1) Open a web browser and go to this URL: https://cran.r-project.org/bin/macosx/ Step 1.1) Click the apple logo in the top left part of your screen, and click on 'About This Mac'. Look for what version of OS X you are running. It will say something like Version 10.7.11, you just need to look for the number after 10. In this case, it would be 7. Remember this number. Step 2) If your number is 9 or higher, click on "R-3.3.1.pkg" on the left part of the screen to start your download. If it is 8 or lower, click on "R-3.2.1-snowleopard.pkg" instead. When the download finishes, open it up and follow the installation instructions (you can just click Next over and over to accept all of the default settings).
