Moser Light Evolution with LEDs and Power Hub Generator [Power Hack]
Power Hacking for Developing Countries: http://www.judepullen.com/designmodelling/electrical-power-hacking-for-developing-countries/ A challenge set by DesignSpark and Practical Action to engineers to come up with innovative ways to generate and utilise electrical power in developing countries. This concept developed by Team Faraday*, takes a typical wind-up generator you find in wind-up torches (by Trevor Baylis), and combines it with a clever 'sky light' created by Alfredo Moser. These innovations, combined with LEDs (a Nobel Prize winning innovation) gives a cheap and efficient way to have light day and night. *Team Faraday are: Enrico Varrone (Arcola Energy) Michael Broadhead (Schneider Electric) Jude Pullen (Design Modelling) Richard Gledhill (Maker/Hacker/Engineer) Gregory Barker-Devereux (QinetiQ) More on Design Spark: http://www.rs-online.com/designspark/electronics/eng/blog/power-hack-team-faraday More on Practical Action: http://practicalaction.org/ More on this story as well as other design info at my website: http://www.judepullen.com/designmodelling/
