Amped Wireless TAP-EX WiFi 2.4GHz 802.11b/g/n Range Extender With Touch Screen Unboxing by Chris Rauschnot http://twitter.com/24k Without a range extender, a 2.4GHz WiFi connection to my iPhone resulted in a speed test of 20.24 Mbps down, 12.89 Mbps up and a ping of 36 ms. Initial tests with TAP-EX 1.1 firmware resulted in a speed test of 11.06 Mbps down, 12.71 Mbps up and 35 ms. TAP-EX 1.2 firmware resulted in a speed test of 9.56 Mbps down, 12.82 Mbps up and 32 ms. The reason for the slowdown in speed could be due to an older 128bit WEP security code on the origin router. Further testing with a WPA2 security code may yield a better speed test.
