We believe that, with the right engineering and design, in conjunction with quality materials, a card fanning wallet can be just as tough and reliable as a traditional bifold wallet. To that, we began with the fanning mechanism. The Fantom X's fanning mechanism is unlike any other - both in design, and build. Unlike other pop up wallets, the Fantom X's fanning mechanism consists of a simple, one piece, single moving part with a lever and pivot. A simpler design with fewer moving parts is inherently more reliable, with fewer points of failure. To ensure that the few existing parts are as durable and tough as possible, the entire fanning lever is a single piece, precision milled from 6061 aluminum stock. It pivots off an extremely precise, 316 stainless steel piece. From countless hours in R&D, we've tested numerous variables, from lever strength, fanning feel, consistency of card fanning, and more. We learned that, in order to maximize the durability and performance of the fanning mechanism, it had to be built to incredibly precise and strict tolerances. We discovered that the optimal fanning performance to maximize all of these variables was only attainable in a very small window - roughly ±0.015mm, or ±0.0006" from spec. In comparison, human hair is about 0.07mm/0.003" thick. The Fantom X's fanning mechanism is built within an acceptable window of less than half of a human hair's thickness. The result is a fanning action that feels butter smooth, solid and confident - ready to take on hundreds of thousands of fanning cycles without breaking a sweat. We also take user feedback seriously and took our learnings from previous iterations to develop the ultimate wallet. In our vision, the ideal wallet should be easy to use and reliable, but also customizable. Like the Fantom R, the Fantom X is designed with modularity in mind, to allow users to customize their wallet with features that best fit their needs. This means it'll have multiple cash carrying solutions, as well as options to carry keys, coins, wallet tracking, and more. All of the modular upgrades are purpose built and engineered with convenience and usability in mind. We don't believe that cramming a plastic tray or compartment into the wallet and calling it a coin or keyholder is right. Our modular upgrades are not mere after thoughts, but rather, a key element that is integral to the design of the wallet from the very beginning. Our biggest challenge was engineering a wallet that could do all of the above, but with 22% less space to work with. Not only did it have to be substantially smaller, it must also adapt modular attachments that can hold just as much as before. We didn't want to settle with, say, a Coin Holder with a smaller coin carrying capacity, as that would hurt real world usability. With the advantage of in house, precision manufacturing, our attachments can also be precision built. This opens up numerous possibilities, and allows us to take advantage of designs that wouldn't have been possible before. This means we can build a Coin Holder with a smaller footprint, yet, hold more coins on the inside. The Fantom X also features a couple of new, subtle enhancements. It now has a built-in spring tab within the chassis to secure your cards better. It also doubles as an internal cash clip when you need to carry a bill or two in a pinch. The lever also rides along a small cut out on the bottom of the chassis to provide consistent fanning action for various card capacities. Lastly, attachments are now secured and aligned with a hook and groove in the corner of the wallet, before being secured with 2 screw holes. This allows for a quicker attachment swap, whilst reducing the wallet's footprint by removing a 3rd attachment screw hole. The Fantom X is a wallet that ticks all the boxes. It outshines every other wallet we've tested in durability, build quality, and design, with unmatched convenience and usability.
