OFID Director-General inducted into the Honorary Senate of the Lindau Foundation

On August 24, 2011, Mr. Suleiman J. Al-Herbish, Director-General of the OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID), was inducted into the Honorary Senate of the Lindau Foundation Nobelprizewinners Meetings at Lake Constance while attending the 4th Meeting of the Winners of the Sverige Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel. Mr. Al-Herbish was the first person from the Middle East to receive this honor Wolfgang Schürer, Chairman of the Foundation, said during the induction: "Mr. Al-Herbish shares the Foundation´s conviction that human capacity- building is crucial for all societies if they are to escape the vicious circle of illiteracy and poverty." OFID has sponsored the participation of 66 researchers/young economists from almost 20 developing countries to attend the 2011 meeting as well as the 61st Meeting of Nobel Laureates, dedicated to Physiology/Medicine, which was held in July 2011.
