New Skype Accounts DO (NOT) Let You Choose a Username - All Are Now Microsoft Linked

MS now makes all new Skype accounts linked to MS (Microsoft) and you do not get to choose a username. You create an account with a email and it becomes a Live: account, a Microsoft account. Update Oct 2016: I have a few tips for you for creating a new Skype account. Read all 4 tips. Ask me for the article on Recovery Flow if you can not login to your new account. TIP 1: Because Skype no longer lets you choose your Skype username on new accounts, the only way to have any control over your new "Skype username" is to use (or create a new) email account with the name you want. Skype/ MS will create the Skype name for you as Live:xxx , where xxx is the first part of your email address. For example: I made a new Outlook or gmail account that starts CommunityTreasures@... and then made a new Skype/Microsoft account. The new Skype name was Live:communitytreasures . That worked well. Tip 2: They recommend a gmail or other free service vs a private domain email. I am told by Skype chat Support. Tip 3: Its best not to use a phone number to CREATE a new Skype account as it will be a random string of numbers after Live: like Live:a5df89hg2dfkh'dslfkjsd98g, which lookd pretty bad to your non contacts, and I noticed on web.Skype (when you chat via a browser) even your contacts only show the username not the display name. Tip 4: If you do create a new email Outlook account as you create a new Skype/Microsoft account, you may find it difficult to login. Just use the email address and password to login and you may need to set it up and login first at outlook.com The new MS Recovery Flow makes it easier to verify its your account - ask for my article on that if intersted. I have one for Skype hack recovery but it still needs testing. So I will create a step by step of the new Skype Recovery flow soon. This video corrects old info about making a new Skype Account. You CAN create a new Skype account with Username and password. It first takes you to login at web.skype. How ever you can still download the plugin for your computer or device.
