Let's Play Factorio - Starting Guide with Burner Mining Drill, Stone Furnace, Steam Power - Ep 1
I start a new base in Factorio with all the defaults in version 0.15. I set up basic burner mining drills for coal, iron, copper and stone. I use stone furnaces to turn the iron and copper ore into iron plates and copper plates. I set up basic steam power using an offshore pump which connects to a pipe to ground (and underground pipe) which allows you to walk over the pipe. This pipe connects to 1 or more boilers that can be chained together. I connect 1 or 2 steam engines to each boiler to produce power. The steam engines connect to things that consume electricity using power lines (small electric poles). The first electric thing I used were electric mining drills which are better, faster and don't need coal.
