La Catedral prelude by A. Barrios, classical guitar

James Hunley plays on Pepe Romero's guitar, testing the new mic pre. and different mic placements. I haven't changed Pepe's strings in a month so its not accurate to the beauty of this amazing guitar. If you have questions about the guitar feel free to call me in LA James Hunley, 323-464-3766 or if you are looking for a guitar teacher here in LA. I'm playing this on Pepes' concert guitar he used for a number years its Pepe jr's no 89. (on loan from pepe) Years ago while dealing with a huge loss Pepe heard me play this and said "james you should let the sadness pass before you play this, its eating you up" So here's a little happier prelude to check the pre amp with. This is from wilipedia, One great work that crosses the line between Imitative and Religiously inspired works is La Cathedral. This work is now one of his most widely played compositions. It consists of three movements: Andante Religioso, Allegro Solemne, and the Prelude which was written 19 years after the first two movements. "The story is related that he based this piece on an experience he had entering the Cathedral of San José in Montevideo; The broad, horizontal chords of the andante represent his impressions of the organist playing Bach in the cathedral. The ensuing allegro represents his leaving the calm, spiritual atmosphere of the cathedral and entering out into the street, where the hustle and bustle of the real world is represented by incessant 16th note arpeggio figures. 19 La Cathedral portrays elements of Bach counterpoint. This work is also one of his finest, exploring deep emotion and virtuosic technique.
