06(a) mass transit - "Look Ma! (almost) No pocket cars! - Cities Skylines
This video is a bit delayed partly because we’re back in school and partly because the editing software I use was glitching and I had to re-edit the video from scratch. There is a bit more discussion and less building in this video as I focus on how I conceptualize and manage mass transit in #nouveausprings. I place a lot of focus on integrating inter-modality transfer points into the landscape of the city--as well as (imperfectly) establishing a sort of mass transit hierarchy of modes (buses serve local circular trips, metro and passenger rail connect at an intra-city level, and monorail connecting the city together at an intra-regional level). The result is the ability to move between 9%-11% of the city’s population through buses, metro, passenger rail, and monorail. I do rely on all types of transit, but I manage the number of vehicles on the routes based on Cim demand--so the system is more efficient than it may appear when viewed in the infographic. At the beginning of the video, I briefly revisit the garden/park projects from the last video showing the updated flora and a small island park partially inspired by a post on Facebook about the Øresund Bridge connecting Sweden and Denmark (https://tinyurl.com/y4pfoz59). A key source for the previous video was the online article "10 Dazzling Gardens Around the World that Explode with Color and Character" from the website "My Modern Met." https://mymodernmet.com/famous-garden... . Then finally, we count less than 20 pocket cars produced by several thousand Cims touring through the airport, monorail, metro hub integrated adjacent a tourist shopping and convention resort.
