If Destiny Applies Shaders To Exotic Weapons...Why Can't We?

When you preview shaders for your full view everything is shaded. Armor from head to toe and the weapon in your hand. Even if its and exotic........ So Destiny 2 will auto shader Exotic weapons but not let us apply them. Why tho
