This impacts me and my siblings. My mental health deteriorated purely because of the presence of a toxic environment in my family. How does one move past that scenario so that we can be an awakened family? How do I (we) ignore the environment at home for the betterment of our mental health? ANSWER: When parents are in a survivalist mindset, that means striving daily to provide the basics, they may very well be constantly under pressure and overwhelmed – not in a good mental and emotional space. In their wanting to give the best for their children they may be on edge, anxious and agitated. This can easily lead to disagreements, arguments, and fights. Sometimes parents don't know any better and the space they create even though it may not be good is normal for them. They accept the pain and hardship that they grew up with as normal and therefore their normal is one of pain and hardship. Parents are also struggling with life situations. How must we deal with this? What you need to learn is the power of resilience. We need to be compassionate and caring in the world in order for us to be compassionate and caring to ourselves. Do not allow the environment if it is toxic to make you. rather we learn to be strong and resilient enough to make our environment. Yes, you are young and don't have influence. Yet persevere and from a young age build that resilience to be not because of your circumstances but rise powerfully despite your circumstances. This may well be a situation where it is up to us to find a way to build ourselves no matter the surroundings and situation. It may not make logical sense, but that allows you to conquer this mind. I know it is tough to change your physical environment. You are living under your parent's roof and are reliant on them for your daily needs. Yet you now have the capacity to change your mental and emotional environment. You can change and shift your mental attitude to the physical environment you live in. this develops your resilience and allows you to persevere. Have a dream, use your imagination. Do not negate the power that you have within you to change the world you live in. You can then shift in time the world you live in. you can determine the place you go to. Away from the negative environment, you find yourself in. have hope, faith and conviction. Create a belief in a more powerful, happier and joyful world. Also, if you feel that family life is getting too bad, and you cannot cope – then you have taken responsibility (as I said) – so part of your responsibility is to reach out for help. Another important point. There is a saying: you are the average of the five people you hang out with. What it means, is that those you give value, meaning and power to in your life are those we are most influenced by. When we are growing up they generally could be parents, siblings and possibly other family members. Beyond them, we have friends, teachers or coaches. How do we change the average? Read ferociously and aggressively. Expand your mind and thinking through reading beyond the world you live in. explore space, ancient civilizations, explorers, entrepreneurs and leaders. Figure out how they think. Wire your mind so that it matches the aspirations of those who have made a difference to this planet. What you are doing, is shifting your average. From the toxic to the bliss that you seek. In this day and age, it's possible to go beyond just reading. With social media, you can read, talk to, watch, question many of those we would like as a mentor, coach or even Guru. We can watch them live at their game. We can hear their most innermost thoughts. This may not change your current toxic environment. but it can shift your future. It can definitely shift you beyond the current scenario you live in. it becomes the push to achieve more. The catalyst to drive you further. Make this current toxic environment as you may call it the fuel, the energy to drive you further in your life. #toxicfamily #toxicrelationships #toxicpeople #narcissist #emotionalabuse #toxicfriends #narcissism #toxicparents #gaslighting #psychiatry #mentalhealthawareness
