Cellphone Audio On A BCD396XT Scanner: Part 2
I noticed whenever I would play or stream music over the speaker I was able to hear it over my scanner. At first I thought it was a shielding issue with the scanner but then it occurred to me I didn't have this problem with my old HTC EVO 4G. So now Im starting to wonder if it's the Broadcom combo chip which controls Bluetooth, WiFi, FM Radio, GPS, and other features. I don't know about the Broadcom chip in my Samsung Galaxy S5 but other, older chips allowed users mobile phones the option to transmit mp3 audio to nearby stereos rather than having to use bulky adapters or cables. Now as you can see my phone is not transmitting on the FM Broadcast band, it's transmitting on the VHF aircraft band in FM. The video doesn't show it but it also transmits down to 42 MHz and all the way up to 169 MHz. The frequencies are not selectable, it transmits on several frequencies, pretty much wherever it wants.
